cOAlition S is pleased to announce that Vinnova, Sweden’s government agency for Innovation, is the latest funding agency to join the coalition and demonstrate its commitment to the realisation of science without publication paywalls. cOAlition S now has 19 members from across Europe, North America, Africa, and the Middle East.
Vinnova contribute to sustainable growth by improving the conditions for innovation, mainly through funding innovation projects and research needed to develop new solutions. Their vision is that Sweden is an innovative force in a sustainable world; a leading global player in research and innovation and a country that is attractive for investment and entrepreneurship.
“We believe open access to scientific publications and research results is important as it increases the ability of innovation. Through cOAlition S we can promote Open Access together with other research funders and thereby strengthen this transition” said Darja Isaksson, Director General of Vinnova.
Robert Kiley, Head of Open Research at Wellcome Trust and interim cOAlition S Coordinator, added that “it is great news that Vinnova have joined cOAlition S. Vinnova have had huge success in strengthening Sweden’s innovation capacity they will be a strong ally in the realisation and implementation of Plan S.”
