I am a publisher. Do I have to provide annual statistics about the numbers of reviews in my journal only for published articles, or also include rejected articles?

Published on: 02/06/2020 - Updated on: 22/06/2020

Plan S Pricing Transparency framework states “Median number of reviews for research articles published in the reporting period. If an article goes back to the same reviewer for a second review, then this counts as two reviews. If reviews are cascaded to the journal with a paper, then count this as zero.” You only need to provide information for published articles.

What if my research collaborator with other funding doesn’t want to comply with Plan S?

By signing and accepting the terms of their grant agreement researchers commit to meeting the requirements of their funder. We would advise the researchers in a collaboration seek to clarify their route to publication before the research is undertaken and include this in any collaborative agreement or MoU.

cOAlition S is currently focused on full and immediate open access to peer-reviewed research publications. It does not at this time have a view on models and procedures for peer-review.

How does DORA fit with Plan S?

Published on: 19/05/2020 - Updated on: 02/02/2022

In line with DORA or similar initiatives, cOalition S funders commit that when assessing research outputs during funding decisions they will value the intrinsic merit of the work and not consider the publication channel, its impact factor (or other journal metrics), or the publisher.
