cOAlition S, an alliance of organisations and institutions that fund and/or perform research activities, who work together to deliver full and immediate Open Access via Plan S, has responded to the consultation on the draft, revised Open Access policy on publications announced by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
cOAlition S expressed broad support for the policy’s alignment with immediate open access principles while offering several recommendations to strengthen its implementation and impact. The feedback addressed key areas, including licensing requirements, rights retention policies, and preprints. cOAlition S also highlighted opportunities to link the policy with data management principles and develop similar guidelines for long-form works.
